BMI calculator

BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It is a useful way of seeing whether or not a person is overweight or obese.

On MEND programmes, we take weight, height and waist measurements for every participant (both children and adults) and work out their BMI. For children, their age is very important when working out their BMI.

Adults who are above a healthy weight have a BMI of more than 25. If your BMI is more than 25 but you do not think you are above a healthy weight you should check with your GP.

How to use the BMI calculator

It’s simple. All you have to do is enter your details or your child’s details in our BMI calculator below and then click ‘Calculate’. Your BMI will appear automatically with an explanation of whether or not you are above a healthy weight.
